An overland tour by bus to the North of Thailand with many highlights including the famous Bridge over the River Kwai in Kanchanaburi, the biggest and most well-known floating market of Thailand in Damnoen Saduak, the world heritage sites of ancient Sukhothai and Ayutthaya. DAY 01: BANGKOK - DAMNOEN SADUAK - KANCHANABURI – RIVER Kwai (-/L/-)

Early morning pick up from the hotel in Bangkok and drive to Damnoen Saduak to visit the floating market where farmers and merchants load their goods on small “Sampan” boats to meet and trade. Continue to Kanchanaburi province, approximately 129 kilometres west of Bangkok. Visit the famous Bridge over the River Kwai constructed in 1942 during World War II. Over 16,000 POWs from England, Australia, Holland and America and 90,000 laborers from Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia and Indonesia died during the construction. Then proceed to Donrak War Cemetary where the remains of 6,982 POWs died during the construction of the Death Railway are buried as well as visit nearby war museum which features the World War II story and art objects such as war weapons, army uniforms, photographs and etc. Then board on the famous “Death Railway” over wooden viaduct passing Krasae Cave and ride along the exciting route overlooking the Kwai Noi River. DAY 02: KANCHANABURI - SUPHANBURI – UTHAI THANI – KAMPHAENGPET (B/L/-)

Breakfast at the Resort and drive to Suphanburi to visit Wat Pa Lae Lai before going to a hundred years old Sam Chuk riverside market, the Chinese community and old-fashioned market with wooden shophouses remain in original Thai style a century ago. Visitors may be surprised to see a photograph shop which remains taking pictures by a century-old camera, herbal drugstore, or enjoy tasting local sweets, sipping old-fashioned local-style coffee by the river. The three-storey building dedicated to be a museum can draw visitors back to the yesteryears by different photographs featuring the way of life in the last era. Continue to Uthai Thani and visit Wat Thasung with its amazing crystal hall. Then drive to Kamphangphet province to visit Kamphaengpet Historical Park. Overnight at hotel in Kamphangphet.

DAY 03: KAMPHAENGPET - SUKHOTHAI – CHIANG MAI (B/L/-)

After breakfast depart for Sukhothai province found in the 13th century, literally means Dawn of Happiness. It was the first truly independent Thai Kingdom, which enjoyed a golden age under King Ramkhamhaeng, credited with creating the Thai alphabet. The superb temples and monuments of this great city have been lovingly restored in Sukhothai Historical Park which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-see for all travelers. Visit the magnificent Historical Park , the ancient first capital of Thailand, to see ruins of the Royal Palace and the Royal temples Wat Mahatat, Sukhothai’s largest temple with a customary main stupa in lotus-bud shape and a ruined Buddha image hall. Then drive to visit some historical sites outside the old city wall including the temple Wat Si Chum with a huge monumental stucco-over-brick Buddha image in the attitude of Subduing Mara called Phra Achana. Continue to Chiang Mai. Overnight at hotel in Chiang Mai.

DAY 04: ELEPHANT CAMP – SAN KAMPHAENG (B/L/-)

Breakfast. Visit an elephant camp in Mae Sa Valley where elephants were trained for timber work in the past. Guests enjoy a variety of fabulous shows of elephants. Then visit an orchid farm and a village of Hmong hill tribe whose culture bases on desire of independence. Afternoon visit handicraft village in San Kamphaeng district which is famous for silk weaving and umbrella making. Visit some home factories and souvenir shops selling woodcarving, silverware, earthware, umbrellas, silk and etc, locating along the village road. Overnight at hotel in Chiang Mai.

DAY 05: DOI SUTHEP HILL - LAMPANG – PHITSANULOKE (B/L/-)

Early morning Breakfast at Hotel and visit to the most famous and respected temple in Chiang Mai, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, built in 1383, with its panoramic view over the city. Further to Lampang to visit a Burmese style temple, Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao before driving to Phitsanulok province. Overnight at hotel in Phitsanulok.

DAY 06: PHITSANULOKE - LOPBURI - AYUTHAYA – BANGKOK (B/L/-)

Morning visit at Wat Mahathat which houses Thailand’s most beautiful Buddha Image, Phra Phuthachinnarat, the large Sukhothai-style bronze statue was cast in 1357 and now is highly respected by Thais countrywide. Then continue to Lopburi, visit San Phra Kan or Kala temple, the Hidu shrine, located a guardian house in which various Buddha and Hindu images are enshrined. One of the most attractive sights for the tourist visiting San Phra Kan is a troop of tamed monkeys. Visit nearby Prang Sam Yod , founded in 13th century, was originally a Hindu temple, with the three stone steeples (prangs) representing the Hindu trinity of Brahma, Visnu and Siva Afternoon drive to Ayutthaya to visit the UNESCO World Heritage historical sites including Wat Phra Sri Sanphet. Proceed to Bangkok and transfer to hotel.
