DAY 1: YANGON (ARRIVAL)

Arrival at Yangon international airport. Meet & greet by your tour guide.

Visit downtown area of Yangon in the afternoon. Enjoy some of the best colonial-style architecture which Yangon has to offer with visits to the High Court building and The Government Telegraph Office on Pansodan Street. Then, visitChina Town and see colourful street stalls. Stop by the buzzing “Little India“quarter full of little street shops selling traditional Burmese and Indian Style dishes.
Continue sightseeing as we walk along the banks of Yangon River to see the busy harbour area in time for the beautiful sunset.
Finally, we can approach the Night Market (KweePhyo Market) where locals normally meet-up after work. Enjoy some local food snacks before ending our day.

DAY 2: YANGON

Early morning, breakfast at the Hotel.In the morning, you can explore the city in a very special way with the extra slow-movingCircular Train Line!
Feel just like a local in this authentic ride which drives in a loop from the city’s main railway station to the surrounding outskirts of Yangon.
At the stop of the station is a buzzing market place,get out and see one of the most beautiful station buildings of Yangon. Hop on a rickshaw ride throughsuburban Yangon to experience the bustling daily life of the locals. Our guide will explain about traditional foods and Burmese culture.You can enjoy the local tea shop for a break time.
In the afternoon, start with a visit toChaukHtatGyi Pagoda to see a huge reclining 70m long Buddha image.Later, stop at Kandawgyi Park located on the banks of the Royal Lake, and see theKaraweik Royal Barge.
Finally, we visit the most iconic landmark of Myanmar, the Shwedagon Pagoda, a world-famous golden stupa and the heart of Buddhist Myanmar. You can observe the localspraying and making offerings at the Shwedagon. Enjoy the atmosphere as you see the sun as it sets over the horizon.
Important notice: The Shwedagon Pagoda is currently undergoing renovation works. Please expect signs of building and construction work. The exact date of completion of this project is yet to be announced. Focus Asia apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

Overnight in Yangon

DAY 3: YANGON–BAGAN

Breakfast at Hotel. Transfer to Yangon airport for flight to Bagan.

Upon arrival at Bagan, startsightseeing to discover Bagan. Observe the making of the Pone Yee Gyi, a fermented bean paste commonly used as a condiment in Burmese cuisine. Visit to PeChaung (Fried Ground Bean Strip) shop to see the process of bean production from gram to bean.
Afterwards, visit Shwezigon Pagoda and Ananda Temple. Other attractions to explore are Thatbyitnnyu temple the highest pagoda on Bagan Plain. Next stop is Htilominlo, the last Bamar-style temple built in Bagan, with old murals and friezes. Visit Nanpaya Temple, built in the Mon style with intricate stone carvings before we can stop for lunch at a local restaurant.

Transfer to your hotel for check in. In the afternoon, continue visit to Phwa Saw East & West village and witness typical upcountry village lifestyle.Late afternoon,take a horse-cart ride that brings you to a sunset place, from which you can enjoy magnificent views.

Overnight in Bagan

DAY 4: BAGAN (HIDDEN VILLAGE AND MT. POPPA)

After breakfast, leave Bagan and drive to a Hidden Traditional Village. Meet with the locals and learn about their rural way of life. Continue driving (1.5 hrs)to Mt. Popa road and make a stop-over at Set SetYo Village. From here, discover the monarchical era topknot hair-style of Myanmar children andlearn about the village life and culture so different form the modern civilisation. Continue to Mt. Popa and upon arrival take a rest to relax at Popa Mountain Resort.Enjoy a majestic view of an iconic Myanmar postcard sight: a sacred monastery, with stupas glistening gold, perched atop an extinct volcano.

Afterwards, drive back to Nyaung-U.En-route, stop for an interesting visit at “Paing” roadside shop where they selltoddy juice also used to make toddy candy “jaggery”. You may even see some toddy climbers harvesting the fruit in the palm garden. From here you can also try other typical local food such as Pennywort salad or Burmese pickled tea leaf salad (Lahpetthohk). Return to Bagan.

DAY 5: BAGAN–MANDALAY

After an early breakfast transfer to Nyaung U domestic airport for departure to Mandalay.Upon arrival start your Mandalay sightseeing tour with a visit to Mahamuni Pagoda, home to Mandalay's most revered Buddha image. Stop to observe how gold leaf is beaten into wafer thin pieces which will ornate many of Mandalay’s holy images.
After that, drive across the Sagaing Bridge which runs parallel with Ava Bridge. Enjoy a picturesque scenery overlooking Sagaing Hill. Numerous monasteries and pagodas dot the hillsides. Lunch at local restaurant.

Visit Soon U Ponya Shin Paya, which offers magnificent sweeping views of its surroundings, and U Min Thounzeh Pagoda, containing 45 Buddha images lined up in a half-moon shape. Then, transfer back to the ancient capital of Amarapura, “City of Immortality”.Finally, enjoy your time at U-Bein Bridge, over one km. long and almost entirely made of teak, and spanning the Taungthaman Lake. Then, transfer back to your hotel for check in.In the evening visit theNight Market of Chinatown.

Overnight in Mandalay

DAY 6: MANDALAY

Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy a Full Day Myanmar Style Cooking Class with Village Tour.

At around 09:00 – 09:30 – Pick up at your hotel. Get a brief tour to the local market to collect ingredients and observe the daily life of Mandalarians. You can enjoy the famous Myanmar Tea and snacks in a local Tea Shop and chat with the local people. Get a chance to observe how the Burmese prepare Betal chewing and give it a try for those who dare to
We then start with the hands-on teaching of Burmese Cuisines. Enjoy the Lunch which you prepared and relax in a traditional Burmese Hut. Later on, hop on a bicycle for a short tour to the nearby village and country sides. Go to the Historic Yan Kin Hill (unexplored by tourists) for Sunset. By approximately 06:00 - 06:30 PM – Drop you off at your Hotel.

Overnight in Mandalay

DAY 7: MANDALAY - KALAW

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive form Mandalay to Kalaw (6 hrs approx.)Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for check-in. Kalaw, an old British hill station, sits high on the western edge of the Shan Plateau with a peaceful and quiet ambience reminiscent of the colonial era. The small population is a mix of Shan, Indian Muslim, Bamar and Nepali.Explore and trek around the Shan tribes Village for half of the day.

DAY 8: KALAW

(Kalaw - YwaThit Palaung Village - Ta Yaw Palaung Village - View Point – Kalaw)

Breakfast at your hotel. Startyour walk from the hotel through Pine forestto YwaThit Palaung village. (3 hrs approx.) On your walk see many Green Tea and Orange fields and enjoy somelocal authentic foods in Kalaw.
Continue walking (30 minsaprox.) to Ta Yaw Palaung village where you can see Palaung Traditional dresses. Get the chance to try them on! A further (30 min approx.) walk takes you to the View Point. Enjoy a breath-taking view of the surrounding scenery as you stop for lunch here.
Get picked up for travel back to Kalaw (1 hr approx.)

DAY 9: KALAW – INLE LAKE

Start early in the morning (7 am) to see the vibrant Kalaw Morning Market where you can try a bowl of warm Shan noodle. Back in the hotel for breakfast before starting our trip to NyaungShwe, a small town and the gateway to Inle Lake. Transfer by longtail boat to your hotel for check-in.Take your time as you explore the charm of Inle Lake with its calm waters surrounded by rolling hills.

In the afternoon, visit Ywama Village, continue to NgaPheKyaung, a beautiful wooden monastery built on stilts around 200 years ago over the Inle Lake and the oldest and largest monastery in the region.Enjoy anIntha lunch at a local home on the lake.
Next, visit PhaungDawOo Pagoda, the holiest religious site in southern Shan State. Later in the afternoon, stop at several workshops such as a boatbuilding workshop, a cheroot (Burmese cigar)-making workshop and others time permitting.

Overnight in Inle (NyaungShwe or Inle Lake)

DAY 10: INLE LAKE

Breakfast at the hotel. Experience a full day of Shan Cooking Class with village tour. Departure (09.00am) to the market with one of our chefs who will help the guest discover the market selling local produce andexplain some of the products that will be used in the class.Start the cooking class at Viewpoint. After the cooking class enjoy your meal at the Viewpoint rooftop.After that, explore the typical every-day Inle lifestyle at Kay La Village. Observe fishermen and farmers in their daily activities. The local people here are very friendly and warm to visitors. You will have the opportunity to visit one of the local stilt houses and meet with a local family in their home.

DAY 11: INLE LAKE – KHAUNG DAING - YANGON

Today, get a chance to visit the 5-Day Rotational Market Day Event, a vibrant fun event where you will see vendors from different tribes selling fresh local produce and handmade products.
After breakfast, start your tour by boat to KhaungDaing village on the northwest coast of the lake. This village is famous for its traditional Shan tofu - fried tofu crackers and folded, triangular tofu treats. We’ll be able to watch (and perhaps participate) as they sift the soy beans, boil them, mash them into balls then form tofu cakes to dry in the sun.
Proceed to NyaungShweand andvisit the Red Mountain Estate Vineyards and Winery, which is located at the north eastern part of Inle Lake. Enjoy magnificent view of Inle Lake and its stilt villages while you taste Red Mountain Estate wines.

After the drive back to NyaungShwe, enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant, which serves some of the best Shan food in the country.Then visit the 150 years old Shwe Yan Pyay monastery with its unusual oval shaped windows. Nearbyis Shwe Yan Pyay pagoda with a cave like corridordecorated with impressive glass mosaic. Transfer to Heho airport for your flight back to Yangon. After that, transfer to Heho Airport for the flight to Yangon. Upon arrival at Yangon, transfer to your hotel for check-in.

DAY 12: YANGON – DEPARTURE

In the morning,get a chance to try Burmese cuisine such as Mohinga soup or OunNoukKhauswe (coconut noodles) or Nan GyiThoketogether with a cup of Burmese local teaat a local tea shop. Transfer back to your hotel. The rest of the day is leisure until time to the Yangon International Airport.
